Introduction to Alloy C276 Bolts

Standards and SURFACE TREATMENT

  • DIN 933 – M1,6 to M52 hexagon head screws threaded up to the head Product grades A and B.
  • Traditional surface treatments are generally unnecessary, a fact determined by the material’s inherent properties. The reasons are as follows: Avoidance of hydrogen embrittlement risks As a high-nickel alloy C276 bolts can be compromised by improper pickling or electro-galvanizing; these processes may introduce hydrogen atoms, thereby increasing the risk of hydrogen embrittlement under specific high-stress operating conditions.

Materials and practicality

  • ASTM F468 Standard Specification for Nonferrous Bolts, Hex Cap Screws, Socket Head Cap Screws, and Studs for General Use.Excellent inherent corrosion resistance Alloy C276 is a premium nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy designed for high-temperature and corrosive environments. It possesses near-total resistance to strong oxidizing salts, hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, wet chlorine gas, and chloride solutions.
  • Due to their exceptional corrosion resistance, Alloy C276 fasteners are primarily used in extremely harsh, highly corrosive industrial environments where standard stainless steels (such as 304 or 316L) and even duplex steels fail: Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) Systems, Oil and Gas Extraction, Chemical and Petrochemical Processing, Pharmaceuticals and Fine Chemicals, Pulp and Paper Industry, Marine Engineering and Desalination.

Hex bolt head marking

Full Traceability

At HOTFORGE INDUSTRIAL LIMITED, traceability is a complete system linking each fastener to its raw material heat number, MTC (3.1/3.2), and production batch. From forging and heat treatment to machining, surface finishing, and inspection, all processes are recorded and fully traceable.

Each bolt is also marked on the head with manufacturer logo, material grade, and strength class for easy identification. All test results and production data are stored and connected to each batch, ensuring full transparency and reliable quality control for industries such as oil & gas, petrochemical, and power generation.

Hex bolt tensile test

Third party laboratory

At HOTFORGE INDUSTRIAL LIMITED, every production batch is fully verified through both our in-house laboratory and accredited third-party testing facilities. Each batch undergoes strict inspection and testing, including mechanical properties, chemical composition, and material identification, ensuring full compliance with international standards. The combination of independent internal testing and external third-party validation provides dual assurance of quality, reliability, and traceability, delivering consistent and trustworthy performance for critical applications in industries such as oil & gas, petrochemical, and power generation.
